

Ernest Mark KiteleySeptember 15, 1922 “ April 29, 2016Ernest Mark Kiteley, 93, passed away April 29, 2016 at Life Care Center of Longmont.He was born September 15, 1922 in Longmont to Mark and Gertrude (Spencer) Kiteley. Ernest graduated from Longmont High School and furthered his education with agriculture classes.On September 17, 1949 he married Florence Gunst in Longmont.Ernest was a life-long farmer, raising crops and livestock on the farm northeast of Longmont near Mead. He never truly retired, always engaged in some activity or work related to the farm, even to just before his death.Ernest was an avid pilot, flying his own plane for many years. He was an active member of the Civil Air Patrol having participated in many search and rescue missions. He was also a member of the Liberty Hall Grange, the Water Board and the Mead Volunteer Fire Department. Ernest enjoyed model railroading. He loved animals and enjoyed his many pets over the years.He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Florence in 2007, sisters Florence and Margaret, brother Tom, and brother-in-law Robert Gunst.Ernest is survived by two daughters Karen Kiteley (Pat Brocklehurst) and Diane Kulm (Jerome); grandchildren Corey Kulm (Ashley) and Natalie Cullen (Eric); great granddaughter Violet Kulm and several nieces and nephews.Ernest's family will receive friends at a visitation 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday, May 5, 2016 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Private family graveside service will be Friday at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
