Franklin D. Harris

Franklin was born on November 7, 1932, in Darlington, MO to Curtis Samuel and Sarah (Hartman) Harris. He was raised on a farm in Darlington and graduated from high School in Missouri before volunteering for the Navy. He served during the Korean War.

On July 25, 1953, he married Margaret Veazey in Aransas Pass, TX at the Catholic Church.

Together they moved to Longmont in 1974 from Bayou Vista, LA. Franklin worked as an electrician and in the oil field before retiring from Tenneco in 1989.

He was of the Christian faith and a family man who enjoyed traveling with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was also close to his many nieces and nephews.

Franklin and Margaret were very crafty people; if they saw pictures of something and their family wanted it, they made it. They enjoyed many years of square dancing together; they loved to travel and took their children on many family vacations. Their children took them on many vacations in their later years.

Franklin was preceded in death by his wife Margaret in 2022; his parents; his brothers James, Robert, Delbert and Jack and his sisters Jean, Sarah, Letha and Mary Etta.

He is survived by his children Jim (Dawn) Harris, Sam (Pam) Harris, Eddie (Lorie) Harris, Frank Harris, Don (Mary) Harris, Janet (Randy) Durnen and Sarah (Rick) Durnen; his grandchildren Stephanie (Justin), Audra (Kevin), Jacquie (Jeff), Nick (Alicia), Forrest, Kirsten (Stuart), Josie (Jacob), Jamie (Jackie), Britni, Jessica, Rachel, Michael, and Joshua; and his great-grandchildren Logan, Reanna, Brayden, Halle, Dirk, Quinn, Aiyana, Conner, Gabe, Liz, Hunter, Jaxon, Oaklen, Emerye, Jenevieve and Kimber.

Visitation 8:00-9:00am Monday December 4, 2023, followed by a Funeral Service at 9:00am, both at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. After the funeral service will be a graveside at 10:00 AM at Foothills Gardens of Memory, 14241 N. 107th Street, Longmont, Colorado 80504.
