

Gayle was born on November 8, 1958 in Whitefish, Montana to Thelma (Stromstad) and Archie Taylor. Loren and Guy Taylor are her two older brothers. While growing up, Gayle lived in Whitefish and Spokane, Washington, Havre, Montana, and St. Paul, Minnesota. She graduated from Harding High School in St. Paul in 1977. Following high school, Gayle earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1981.
In August of 1981, Gayle married the love of her life, Steven Stiller, at Grace Lutheran Church in St. Paul. Gayle and Steven would be celebrating their 41st Anniversary in August. Gayle and Steven started their married life in Boulder and Longmont, Colorado and lived in Victor, New York, Milford, Massachusetts, and San Jose, California before returning to Longmont in 1995.
Gayle’s professional career spanned a number of engineering leadership roles in leading-edge technologies. Most recently she worked for Trimble Inc. in Westminster, Colorado. She was a member of IEEE and several Network Protocol Committees to define the way we communicate around the world.
She was a woman of great faith and a member of Longs Peak United Methodist Church in Longmont. For over 22 years Gayle and her husband Steven worked in children’s ministry and were able to impact the lives of many children growing in their faith.
Gayle loved traveling and exploring the world from hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park to snorkeling in the reefs of Hawaii. She loved the San Juan Islands in Washington, especially the ferryboats connecting them. Music was another passion of hers and Gayle loved to play her flute and piccolo. Her love of crafts was expansive, and she enjoyed sharing her crafts with her grandchildren and family. Spending time with family was the most important thing to Gayle.
Gayle and Steven had one beautiful daughter together, Katherine. Gayle loved her so. She was a caring and supportive mother. She taught her daughter a love for Christ, finding joy in all things, and encouraging her to follow her dreams. Gayle’s family meant more to her than anything else in the world. She was devoted to her family as a wife, mother, and grandmother. Gayle was loved so dearly by her family and all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
Gayle was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Thelma Taylor. She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 41 years, Steven Stiller, daughter, Katherine Pekarek, son-in-law Nick Pekarek, grandchildren, Archie and Eleanor Pekarek, and brothers, Loren Taylor and Guy Taylor, nieces, Kelsey Taylor, Aryn Taylor and Emily Lilo, and by her nephews, Ian Taylor and Matt Stiller.
A Celebration of Gayle’s Life was held Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Longs Peak United Methodist Church in Longmont.
