

Our beloved Gordon Keith Kennedy passed peacefully on May 26th, 2017 at an incredible 92 years of age.
Gordon was born on May 11, 1925 in Rinn, Colorado and lived in the Hygiene/ Longmont area all of his life. Gordon graduated from Longmont High School in 1943. He married the love of his life, Betty Lou Nesmith February 1, 1948. He dedicated his life to his family and farming. He was a strong, smart, humble, caring man and to know him was to love him. A man who was a friend to everyone and loved by so many. He had an appreciation, sensitivity and an understanding of life that was unprecedented. There wasn’t a day of his 92 years that he didn’t walk proudly on this earth.
Gordon was a member of the Hygiene Methodist Church, a member of the Longmont Elks for over 60 years, past exalted ruler, Master of the Longs Peak Grange, Noble Grand of the Odd Fellows Lodge, member of the Farm Bureau, and on the board of the Soil Conservation District. He was a volunteer fire fighter with the Hygiene Fire Department since 1963.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, William and Minnie (Ol-son) Kennedy, a sister, Marie (Westover) Kennedy, son Brian Kennedy, and grand-daughter Amanda Kennedy. He is survived by his wife, Betty, two daughters, Debbie Bustamante (Mitch),Linda Glantz (Dan), grand-children Christie Kennedy, April Beumer (Jeremy), Breianne Kennedy, Cindy Mohr (Randy), Justin Glantz (Rachel), Jamie Glantz, Jared Glantz (Mandi Sullivan), Tami Bustamante (Nate Wysock) and Kati Bustamante. Along with 15 great-grandchildren Payton, Elliana, Kole, Blake, Ava, Will, Wyatt, Remy, Corbyn, Lane, Brian, Mykell, Ryder, Tristan, and Eli.
“For this one farmer your worries are over. You raised a fine family and worked the land well. Hang up your shovel inside the barn, your work here on earth is done. Your home is now heaven; no more must you wait. Your legacy lives on with your love of the land and we will close the gate.”
Donations can be made to the Hygiene Fire Department. Services will be held Saturday, June 3rd 2017 at 10 am at Howe Mortuary. Reception will be held at the Longmont Elks Club, following interment at Foothills Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
