
Irene Marie DiOrio of Longmont died April 17, 2011 at her home. She was 83 years old.Irene was born on March 12, 1928 in Pueblo, Colorado, the daughter of Matteo and Filamana (Orlando) Romontio. She married James DiOrio, Sr. on June 29, 1948 in Florence, Colorado.Irene, James, and their family lived in Florence for 10 years, Ft. Collins for two years, and then Albuquerque, NM for 11 years before moving to Longmont in 1970. She was the resident manager at Lamplighter Motel from early 1972 until 1990. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Irene was a very talented lady. She was an accomplished oil painter. Irene enjoyed raising flowers, earned recognition for her cross-breeding of roses and had them at the Botanical gardens. She was also an excellent cook and had many articles written on her cooking.Irene was preceded in death by her parents.She is survived by her loving husband, James DiOrio, Sr. of Longmont; two sons, James DiOrio (Kelly) of Henderson, CO and Leo DiOrio (Cecilia) of Broomfield, CO; a brother, George Romontio of Canon City, CO; a sister, Ilene Yates of Austin, TX and three grandchildren, Mia, Megan and Nickolas.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Cremation is under the care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Memorial contributions to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for the Altar and Rosary society.
