James W. Cheek of Longmont died August 15, 2011 at Beatrice Hover Assisted Living. He was 87 years old.James was born on July 14, 1924 in Oklahoma, the son of Robert and Velma (Eubanks) Cheek. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged. James was married to Ora B. Cheek. He was a machinist in the shipbuilding industry. James moved to Longmont in 2009. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.James is survived by his son, Dane Cheek (Melisa) of Longmont; his daughter, Velma Vesseliza (Robert) of Spotsylvania, Virginia and four grandchildren, Kevin Cheek, Molly Pearce and Lauren and Emily Vesseliza.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Cremation has been held at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
