Janet Reneé Hodgin-Hartlove1961-2016Jan Hodgin-Hartlove, a beautiful, sincere, giving, caring, mother, daughter, sister, spouse, girlfriend and dear friend, passed to the spirit world August 10, 2016 from metastatic breast cancer. Jan is survived by her daughter, Angie; her husband, Peter; and her boyfriend, Jim. She is also survived by her mother, Rose Shriver; step-father Poppy; and four siblings, Steve Hodgin, Michael Hodgin, Teresa Yates and Debra Terrones, as well as numerous nephews, nieces and her beloved stuffed animals, Carlito the bear and Bully the moose. Jan touched and was loved by many people who adored her empathy and ability to bond people together. She loved all people and if you were lucky enough to cross her path, you would most likely become her new best friend. Jan surrounded herself with other special people, which made being her friend especially meaningful. She was the consummate people person who made people her hobby, always giving others the benefit of the doubt. She was a relationship builder in smaller circles and a community builder in the larger whole. Jan's humor enveloped a large part of her life, making each day joyful, her irreverence shining through, and helping others as well as herself through tribulations.Jan was a passionate and talented artist, enjoying such endeavors as painting pottery, lettering in calligraphy, and giving countless beautifully written and illustrated greeting cards to family and friends. Later in her life, music became a bigger part, singing high harmony with good friends at numerous jam sessions. In this last phase of her life, Jan again brought diverse groups of people together, making their friendship special, just by her being a part of it.A private memorial will be held at a later time.
