

Jerome ""Jerry"" Joseph Portz, Dacono, CO passed away February 7, 2017, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette, CO. He was born September 12, 1929 to Joseph August Portz and Leva Margaret (Horton) Portz. Jerry attended school in Assumption, Nebraska and joined the U.S. Army in August of 1949. Jerry proudly served his country in Korea, where he was awarded two Purple Hearts. He was discharged in September, 1952, with the rank of corporal. He was a member of the American Legion; MOPH #434, and lifetime member of VFW. He was a retired RTD bus driver.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother Harry F. Portz; brother Gus Portz, and his wife Jaine Leigh Portz.
Survivors include his wife Miriam Portz; his children Richard Portz of Paradise, TX, Robert Portz of McCook, NE., Diana Trout and husband Paul, of Caldwell, ID, Teresa Kuhlmann of McCook, NE.; four step-children and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He is further survived by his brothers Donald Portz and wife Joyce of Blue Springs, MO; Charles Portz and wife Kelly of Johnstown, CO; Leonard Portz and wife Barbara of Westminster, CO; and one sister, Eileen Mousel and husband Don of Juniata, NE; sisters-in-law, Nancy Portz of Claverack, NY and Anne Portz of Clio, AL.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017, 5pm-7pm followed by rosary prayer at 7pm, at the Howe Mortuary Chapel, 439 Coffman St. Longmont, CO.
Funeral services will be at 1:00pm, on February 17, 2017 also at the Howe Mortuary Chapel. Burial at Mountain View Cemetery immediately following.
