

Joseph Patrick Garguilo, 83, of Longmont, Colorado, died at his residence on June 21, 2006. Joe moved to Longmont from New York in 2002.Joseph was born on September 22, 1922 in Manhattan, New York to Anthony and Sadie (D?Anna) Garguilo. He grew up and attended schools in New York. He attended Columbia University for one year. During World War II, Joe served in the United States Army and saw action in both the European and Asian theatres.Joe married Kathleen Armstrong. For over thirty years, Mr. Garguilo was an insurance underwriter for Wausau Insurance Company. He also worked as a courier for ten years for jewelry businesses in New York. Joe enjoyed collecting coins and stamps and was able to advise people on their value. He enjoyed dancing and was a nice guy who knew a lot of people and had many friends.Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a brother, Carmine Gargiulo.Surviving is a son, Joseph C. Garguilo of Berthoud, Colorado; a granddaughter, Remy A. Garguilo of Longmont; and a brother Salvatore D?Anna of Hicksville, New York.Visitation will be held at Howe Mortuary on Monday and Tuesday, June 26 and 27 from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m. A vigil will be held on Tuesday at Howe Mortuary at 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Howe Mortuary on Wednesday, June 28 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Bob Howard of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church officiating. Burial will take place in Mountain View Cemetery in Longmont following the service.Memorial contributions may be given to help his granddaughter with college expenses and sent to Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman Street, Longmont, CO 80501.
