

Karen passed away peacefully with her family surrounding her on November 3rd, 2024.
Karen was born in 1941 in Osage City, Kansas to Louie and Elaine Stonequist. She met the Love of her Life, Gene Eggert, on a blind date and they were soon married. They raised three beautiful children in Longmont, Colorado.
Karen had a very fulfilling career working at Sunset Junior High (Middle) School. She made a difference in many people’s lives along with making life-long friendships.
Karen and Gene retired to their dream home in Grand Lake. They built and ran a self-storage business. Karen worked in the office where she was known for her beautiful smile and kind words to make your day!
Her family will always remember the wonderful Christmas celebrations in their “Winter Wonderland” of Grand Lake! Karen had a passion for sending cards and letters to many people, letting them know how much she cared. If she didn’t have a card in hand, she would make her own!
Karen is survived by her husband Gene, “Lil” sister Nancey (Doug) Smith, children Shelly (Ron) Rio, Stacey (Steve) Stromberg, Christopher Eggert, grandchildren Amanda (Scott) Dobson, Andrew (Ashley) Brink, Kasandra (Jake) Dickerson, John (Taylor) Skidmore, Christina Eggert, Karen Eggert, 8 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Louie and Elaine Stonequist.
Mom, you have touched our lives, made us who we are and will be forever in our hearts.
You will be greatly missed!
