

Kathleen J. Keenan August 26, 1929 “ May 17, 2016 Kathleen J. Keenan passed away May 17, 2016 at her residence in Platteville, Colorado. She was 86 years old. Kathleen was born August 26, 1929 in Alameda, California to Elmer and Katherine (Hoffman) Bennett. She graduated from Oakdale Union High School in 1947 and was the head drum majorette and team captain of her gymnastics team. She attended San Jose State where she met her husband, Verne and was later married on June 25, 1950. She was a wife, mother and also a campfire leader for six years. Kathleen returned to school at Cal State in Hayward where she obtained her Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education in 1966. She moved to Canada where Verne taught at the University of British Columbia. They later moved to Colorado where Verne began teaching at the University of Colorado, Boulder and she began teaching at Lafayette Elementary in September, 1970. Kathleen retired from teaching in June, 1992. She was passionate about teaching and was a dedicated teacher who loved her students. Kathleen was also an excellent horsewoman who had had horses since childhood where she grew up on a ranch in Oakdale. She was a loving, kind, and patient person. She is survived by one daughter Carol Carrie (Burke) Anderson and one son Paul Keenan, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Memorial service 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Faith Lutheran Church in Johnstown, Colorado. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
