Kendall Marie Athey passed away sadly on January 26, 2022, exactly two weeks after the death of her father. Kendall was born to Ray and Judy (Stewart) Athey on April 8, 1980 in Longmont, Colorado. She attended Longmont schools and graduated from Skyline High School.
Kendall attended UNC in Greeley and Metro Sate in Denver. She graduated from the Academy for Dental Assisting and became a dental assistant.
Kendall had many interests. She liked to read, loved the color orange, and had a collection of shoes of every style and color that existed. She enjoyed going to Dave Matthews concerts, eating Mexican food, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Kendall was an excellent swimmer, lettering all four years at Skyline High School and swam on a summer league at Fox Hill Country Club. She was an accomplished dancer starting at age four and continuing until graduating from high school. She loved all forms of dance - - -tap, hip-hop, modern and ballet.
Kendall valued and cared deeply for her family and friends. Both were a priority to her. She loved her younger brother C.R. and was always trying to stay ahead of the many pranks and gags he continually pulled on her. When C.R. and Liz were married and he asked her to be his groom’s lady she was overjoyed and honored. They were close friends and she was devastated over his early death.
Kendall’s greatest joy in her life was her son Carter. She loved him dearly and continually commented on what a special blessing he was. She was a terrific mom. The two of them did everything together – swimming, riding bikes, taking walks, exploring nature trails, fishing, reading together, playing games, baking and doing art projects. They liked to visit the local zoo and museums. Their favorite thing was dancing together which they did from the time Carter was born. Kendall and Carter would tell each other “I love you to the moon and back”. Carter was everything to her.
Kendall had just recently become engaged to her fiancée, Mike. She was happy and excited and the two of them had just begun to plan their wedding. They loved each other deeply and her last months were filled with joy and happiness.
Kendall was preceded in death by her father Ray, her younger brother C.R., both sets of grandparents – Dr. and Mrs. Clanton Ray Athey Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Stewart and her Aunt Sherry Bauer.
She is survived by her precious son Carter, her mom Judy, her sister-in-law Liz, her fiancée Mike and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
