

It is with great sadness that the wife and children of Kenneth E. Martin announce that he passed away at home on August 15, 2025. Ken was the beloved son of Myrlee Winnifred Wells Martin and Harold Everett Martin and was raised near Rockwell City, Iowa. Soon after graduating from Rockwell City High School, he joined the Air Force. He went through basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, and technical training at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. Ken was then stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana, and Goose Air Force Base in Labrador, Canada.
After Honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1961, he returned to Rockwell City before starting his career with IBM in Rochester, Minnesota. He and his first wife, Ginger, and their two children moved to Colorado in 1966 when he transferred to the Boulder IBM plant. He was a wonderful father who enjoyed spending time with his family, riding his Honda motorcycle, and traveling and collecting Indian art throughout the southwest. He was also an award-winning amateur photographer.
In 1977 Ken married his second wife, Phyllis, who was the love of his life, and they lived in Longmont, Colorado. After thirty years of service, he retired from IBM. During his retirement Ken and Phyllis traveled extensively throughout Europe and the United States, including Hawaii. They enjoyed visiting family and friends and sightseeing on their many trips together.
Ken liked to spend time with family and friends. He kept in touch with friends from IBM and his younger years and also with his extended family. He also enjoyed buying and selling antiques with Phyllis, and they were dealers at the St Vrain Valley Historical Society Strawberry Festival and Pumpkin Pie Days shows for many years.
Ken is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Martin, his children Maria Martin (Martin Werner), Kent Martin (Pam), his step-children, Karen Thompson (Dennis), Kathy Bruns (Dale), Kevin Wood, Keith Wood (Kathy), his grandchildren Kristy Claeys, Matthew Thompson, Katy Rhoades, Michael Thompson, Kayla Martin Elliott, and his great-grandchildren Koalby Rhoades, Kaleb Rhoades, Kyson Elliott, Kaisley Elliott, Addy Thompson.
Ken will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him, but his family takes great comfort in knowing that he is in heaven with Jesus.
A a celebration of life for Kenneth will be held Friday, September 19, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry Street, Longmont, Colorado 80501. Following the a celebration of life will be a graveside inurnment from 2:00 PM to 2:25 PM at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Ave, Denver, CO 80236.
