Laura Larson Bredehoeft, beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the Longmont, CO, community, passed away on October 8, 2025, leaving for her family and friends a legacy of care and compassion for others.
Laura was born on July 10, 1930, to Joseph and Lillie Larson, the only girl in a family of seven children. She grew up in Cheyenne and Banner counties, NE. A graduate of the University of Wyoming, Laura built a distinguished career in real estate, working tirelessly for nearly 25 years. Her professionalism and integrity earned her the respect of colleagues and clients alike, and her dedication helped countless families find their homes.
After settling in Boulder County, CO, in 1988, Laura became a familiar and beloved presence, known for her gentle spirit and her passion for making the world a better place. In retirement, she found a passion for gardening and worked part time at The Flower Bin and then Ollin Farms. Laura’s interests were as vibrant as her personality. She found joy in walking the paths of her neighborhood (usually with a four-legged friend in tow), the rhythmic beat of djembe drumming with her son Paul, and the creative expression of painting, which she discovered late in life. Her artistic soul brought color and music into the lives of those around her.
Deeply committed to social justice and civic engagement, Laura was politically active throughout her life. She volunteered with the League of Women Voters and championed the Equal Rights Amendment, believing passionately in equality and the power of every voice. Her advocacy and volunteerism started at an early age and left a lasting impact on her children and her community.
Laura is survived by four children, John F. Bredehoeft, Martha Clemensen (Jeff), Paul Bredehoeft (Jackie), and Chris Bredehoeft (Cheryl). She was the proud grandmother of eight, each of whom she inspired with her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering support.
Laura’s legacy is one of kindness, courage, and compassion. She will be remembered for her laughter, her generosity, her unwavering belief in the innate goodness of people, and above all her infectious smile.
A memorial service for Laura will be held at 10:00AM on December 4, 2025, at Christ Church (2950 South University Blvd., Denver, CO), and a celebration of Laura’s life will be held on July 10, 2026, in Longmont, CO, at a location to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Community Food Share in Louisville, CO (www.communityfoodshare.org).
