

Lawrence P. ?Larry? Kirchner, of Longmont died Thursday evening, May 25, 2006 at the Hospice Care Center in Louisville. He was 76 years old.Born July 2, 1929 in Baltimore, Maryland to William and Theresa (Kantor) Kirchner. Larry grew up and attended school in Baltimore, graduating from Polytechnic High School in 1948. That same year he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving honorably until 1952.On August 14, 1954 he married Lois Johnson in Baltimore, MD. Larry worked for IBM, and the family moved to North Carolina. In 1968 the Kirchner?s moved to Boulder, and then to Longmont in 1978. Larry would go on to spend 38 years with IBM before retiring in 1990.Mr. Kirchner was a longtime member of the Longmont Athletic Club; he also had a passion for architectural design and finish carpentry.He is survived by his wife Lois; 3 sons, Gary Kirchner of Longmont, Bruce Kirchner and his wife Cindy of Broomfield and Michael Kirchner of Longmont; and 3 grandchildren, Diana, Christopher and Rachel Kirchner.Larry is preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, William, Louis, Hubert and Gerard Kirchner; and his sister, Marie Palmer.Visitation begins at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont, there will be a family eulogy at 9:45 a.m. followed by Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Brian Morrow officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Hospice of Boulder and Broomfield Counties.
