

Leonard was born on December 5, 1935 in Longmont, Colorado to Elmer C. Rasmussen and Sadie Slinde Rasmussen. He graduated from Longmont High School in 1953 and while there, played football and was also active in 4-H and Future Farmers of America.
Leonard grew up on the family farm south of Longmont with his seven brothers and sisters. After high school graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served four years. After his service to his country, Leonard attended and graduated from Mesa Junior College in Grand Junction, Colorado. After graduation, he went back home to the family farm and started farming with his two brothers, Charles and Famuer Sr.
Leonard enjoyed feeding sheep, attending Denver Bronco games, and farming with his nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents, two brothers Elmer Jr. and Charles; and two sisters Shirley and Harriet. Surviving is his sister Sonja Walek of Fort Morgan; and two brothers Howard, and Famuer Sr. (Sherry) of both Longmont. Leonard is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A grave side service will be held on Monday, December 23, 2019 at 1 p.m. and Mountain View Cemetery in Longmont.
