

Llewellyn Charles Nuttall was born on April 16, 1919 in Flatrock, IL to Dr. Orville Thurman Nuttall and Della Virginia Prier Nuttall. He died August 19th at the age of 92. The family moved to Colorado in 1923 and to Boulder in 1934. He graduated from Boulder High School in 1937, attended the University of Colorado, and joined Sigma Chi.
Lu married Eileen Stockdale March 10, 1941. They met when Eileen was living at the Nuttall’s hotel, the Monticello. Eileen, who was the bookkeeper at Valentine’s Hardware, became a regular at Lu’s bowling alley. Lu enlisted in 1942, serving as 1st Lieutenant in the 1781st Ordinance of the Army, assigned to the Air Force.
Lu enjoyed working with his hands and doing things for himself. In 1948, Lu built the home where his family has resided ever since. With the help of his sons, he built Mapleton (1960) and Orchard Mobile Home Parks (1962).
Lu was a member of the Elks Lodge, the Shrine, and Boulder Country Club. He served on the Boulder Planning Board. Lu had a broad smile, a keen sense of humor, and a genuine interest in people. His skill, his enthusiasm for life, and his boundless energy made him a wonderful parent, grandparent and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, O.T. He is survived by sister Trieva Rae (Avalon, CA) and three sons: Llewellyn Nuttall II (Betsy) Tonto Verde, AZ; Michael Nuttall (Mary Jo) Grand Junction, CO; John Nuttall (Jane) Loveland, CO; former daughter-in-law Jean Schlagel (Ron) Longmont, CO and grandchildren: Barbara Thelen (Bob) Fort Collins, CO; Brian Nuttall (Teresa) and their children Ethan and Maya of Superior, CO; Michael Nuttall II (Ladybird) and their child Michael of Grand Junction, CO; Lisa Nuttall of Loveland, CO; and Amy Nuttall of South Bend, IN.
Graveside services and interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 26th at Mountain View Memorial Park, Boulder, CO.
