Lois Hay passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on September 5, 2021. She was the daughter of Robert and Roberta Weisgerber of Fort Morgan, Colorado. After graduating from high school, she went to the University of Colorado Boulder where she earned her Bachelor's Degree (Spanish) and later a Master's Degree in School Administration.
Lois was a career public educator who held a variety of positions in two school districts: Boulder Valley and Littleton Public Schools: high school Spanish teacher (Fairview H.S.), assistant principal (Casey Jr High), Principal (Angevine M.S.), Director of Curriculum & Instruction (Littleton), Director of High Schools and Middle Schools (Littleton). After retiring from public schools, Lois became an educational consultant, specializing in teacher induction and program evaluation. She fully retired in 2007.
Lois married Marty English in college and they were married for 15 years. In 1982 she met the "love of her life"; Jack Hay and they were married in 1984. Lois was a talented chef and she and Jack enjoyed entertaining friends and colleagues as well as extensive traveling. She also enjoyed the time they got to spend with Jack's boys; Steve (deceased 2005) and John.
While they had no children of their own, their family grew significantly after Steve's passing in 2005... as they "adopted" Steve's fiancé, Carrie Ann Tedesco and her children; Nashtun, Kiah and Skyler. This "Bonus Family" has grown to include 9 more: Wayne Tedesco married Carrie, A.J. Miller married Nashtun, Blake Miller married Kiah, and Richard Patterson is Skyler's boyfriend. Also there are five great-grandchildren: Gabriel, Zachariah, Mackenzie and Gideon; and Lilith. Lois enjoyed all the celebrations, holidays and time spent with her "Bonus Family."
In addition to her passion for the field of education Lois was equally devoted to her faith. She particularly enjoyed many years of participating in Women's Bible Studies at Lifebridge.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, stepson Steve and nephew Jeff Sword. Lois is survived by her husband, Jack, stepson John, grandson Stephen and granddaughter Taylor, great grandson Ian (Taylor's), sister Marsha Sword, nephew Brian Sword and niece, Shari (Barry) Ehlers and her "Bonus Family."
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lifebridge Women's Ministry or Longmont Humane Society in Lois' name. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 17th at 10am, at the Lifebridge Christian Church 10345 Ute Hwy, Longmont, CO 80504.
