Luis Montes Gutierrez

Luis was was born and raised on a ranch in Coscomates, Balleza, Chihuahua, Mexico on December 15, 1941. He was one of nine children born to Sixto Montes and Virginia Gutierrez. He was only given the opportunity to finish elementary school. In 1977, Luis married his love, Ana Maria Rodriguez, in El Tule, Chihuahua. Luis and Ana began their journey to America from Parral, Chihuahua in 1986, moving to Longmont, Colorado.

During his time in America, Luis took up many jobs such as working in fields and picking up any small jobs he could, working hard until finally retiring in 2003. He was a man of strong faith and a devout Catholic. He loved to watch sports. He enjoyed going to the casinos and visiting Central City. He also enjoyed visiting his brother back home. He liked to go to the store and prepare food and was addicted to drinking coffee at the crack of dawn. Luis was loved and he will be missed.

Luis was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ana Maria, who passed away on March 10, 2020; his parents, Sixto and Virginia; and his brothers, Servando, Ignacio, and Cipriano. He is survived by his son, Luis Noel, and his daughters, Laura and Aracely; brother, Ramon, and sisters, Kika, Eva, Siria, Magdalena; his grandchildren, Jesus, Alberto, Alan, Mariana, Abraham, Valeria, Isaac, and Monique, one great-grandson, Armani, and one great-grandbaby on the way. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Gonzalo Avila, and good family friend, Manuel Alcaraz.

A Visitation will be held for Luis on Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 4:30-6:30pm, with a Rosary at 5:00pm, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont and Luis will be laid to rest in a Committal Service at 11:00am at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
