Margaret Fahy

Margaret Fahy of Longmont, Colorado, died Wednesday June 13, 2012 surrounded by her family at the HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield. She was born on October 11, 1923 in Minot, North Dakota to Carl and Elizabeth Norby and graduated from Minot High School in 1941. She married Vernon Fahy on July 12, 1947. Vern caught her eye with his skilled ice skating moves and he talked about being mesmerized by the beautiful redhead in the blue coat. Margaret and Vernon lived in Minot until 1972 when they moved to Bismarck, North Dakota. In 2002 they moved to Longmont to be closer to family. Mrs. Fahy was a bookkeeper early in her career, then spent many years dedicated to raising her family, and later became a real estate agent in Bismarck.Margaret will be remembered for being a devoted and loving mom and her grandkids' biggest fan at their sporting events. She enjoyed the family cabin at Lake Metigoshe, North Dakota and was an artist and flower enthusiast. She was preceded in death by her husband Vernon. She is survived by two daughters, Holly Widmann and her husband George of Calipatria, California and Patricia Fahy, M.D. and her husband Bruce Katuna, M.D. of Longmont; two sons, Michael Fahy and his wife Candace of Mesa, Arizona and David Fahy of Houston; a sister Doris Weigel of San Jose, California and a brother Carl Norby and his wife Wan of Boulder, Colorado. She has six grandchildren Kelly Haugen of Barnesville, MN and Lee Fahy of Isanti, MN, Cory and Jamie Katuna of Longmont, Gretchen Whannel of Calipatria and James Sh maker of Bullhead City, AZ.; and six great grandchildren Jacob and Johnathan Whannel of Calipatria, James Sh maker of Bullhead City, Arizona and Ranette Sh maker of Tucson, AZ. and Makenna and Jax Haugen of Barnesville, MN. A service will be held at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel at 7pm this evening (Thursday, June 14) presided over by Father Frank Maroney of St. Francis of Assissi Catholic Church. Margaret will be buried beside her husband Vernon at the Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, N.D.
