

Maria Carmen Pray, 89, of Longmont, died July 31, 2015 at AltaVita Memory Care Center. She was born August 19, 1925 in Santiago, Cuba to Jose Paz and Julia Perez Paz. She received a degree in Pharmacology from the University of Havana. In 1955, Maria and many of her family members, moved to the United States, arriving in Manhattan.
Maria married Alfred Pray, Jr. in November of 1959. She moved to Longmont in 1997 to be closer to her son and his family. Maria loved to dance and will be fondly remembered for her exceptional cooking and sewing.
Maria is survived by her son Alfred (Joanie) Pray, III of Longmont and their daughters Kate and Emma Pray. She is further survived by her sister Generosa “Linda” Paz of Longmont and her niece Elizabeth (John) Merhottein of The Villages, FL. Preceding her is death are her parents, her husband, her brothers Jose, Manuel, Julio and Ruperto Paz and her sisters, Esperansa Lara, Pilar “Mimi” Cotelo, and Emigdia “Millie” Romero.
A time of sharing will be held Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 6:00 p.m. at the Howe Mortuary Community Room.
