Marie and her family moved from Walsenburg to Frederick Colorado where she lived until her passing. She married Joseph Eustachio DeGesualdo on April 16, 1950.
Marie is survived by her three children Donna Jean (Andrea’) Ciaravola of Frederick, Colorado, R. Wayne (JoNell) DeGesualdo of Grand Junction, Colorado, Joseph Emmanuel (Kathy) DeGesualdo of Longmont, Colorado, eight grandchildren, Raffele Ciaravola, Michael Ciaravola, Annamaria Archuleta, April DeGesualdo-Cook, Daniel DeGesualdo, Jessica DeGesualdo-Morris, Ashlee Hecht-Nielsen and Morgen DeGesualdo, 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Joseph, her parents, Mike and Percy, sister Maria Antonia and brother Michael Pappas.
Her greatest joy was family and loving on her grandbabies. One of the best traditions being, time spent around the table every Sunday after church. Family would eat a feast which usually always consisted of pasta, meatballs and roast. It didn't matter who you were, when you walked into Marie's house she always cooked up a feast and you never left hungry! In fact her tortillas were famous amongst family and friends, not to mention the many other dishes that graced her table.
One of Marie's favorite pastimes was gardening. She would spend hours tending the flowers which flourished in her beautiful yard. Being that she was a devout Christian, we believe this was one of the places she could quiet her mind and heart and spend time talking to God. Her garden was not the only example of her artistic abilities, as she also made beautiful handmade paper dolls, complete with ornate wardrobes and crocheted lovely blankets for each of her grandchildren.
Marie passed peacefully at 7:28 AM on Thursday, January 7, 2021 while surrounded by her beloved family.
We would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and CNA’s at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins and Compassus Home Hospice Care for their kindness, compassion and loving care they showed Marie and her family during her last days.
"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, either shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away."
Revelation 21:4
Rest in Peace Sweet Mom, Momma, Grandma, Gram, Granma Ree, Monie, till we see you again, love your devoted family
