Mary Jane Storey

Mary Jane Storey of Longmont, died June 13, 2007 at Life Care Center. She was 78.Mary was born on December 4, 1928 in Chadron, Nebraska, to James Richard Gaffney and Christina Marie Fey Gaffney. She was raised in Nebraska, graduating from Chadron High School.Mrs. Storey was married to Vernon Storey on May 17, 1946 in Chadron. They moved to Boulder that same year. They moved around northern Colorado a number of times before settling permanently in Longmont in 1965.Mrs. Storey held a number of jobs through the years including waitressing, working for the Boulder Valley School District, and as a bookkeeper for a number of years with the St. Vrain Water District.She took great pride in her home, always keeping it immaculate. She collected Department 56 House, preferring the New England series, as well as artistic butterflies. As her children grew up, the family enjoyed many fishing trips.Her husband preceded her in death this past February. Surviving are two sons, James Vernon Storey of Loveland, CO, and William Earl Storey of Phoenix, Arizona; two daughters, Christina Marie Parker and her husband, Bob, of Phoenix, Arizona, and Jane Kathryn Melick and her husband, Gene, of Longmont; 7 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.A cremation has been entrusted to the Howe Mortuary and Crematory Service.Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at Foothills Gardens of Memory, with Pastor Rick Ebbers officiating.Contributions may be made to the Prader-Willi Syndrome Assn., c/o Lynette Hosler, 8290 S.
