As we pass the 4th anniversary of Matt’s passing, I am still in disbelief. Matt was always so full of life and excitement even when we were dealing with discouraging challenges that I just can’t imagine not seeing him again in this life. 

I hope and trust that he is with our Savior and that I will see him again when I join him there.

It is with the utmost sadness I greet the news of Matt, my beloved friend.
I met Matt more than 10 years ago when he came to work on projects in my plant in Whitby Canada where at that time I was the Engineering Manager. We immediately befriended each other, and soon my wife Pauline and I invited him back to our place for supper. Matt spent many months with us and we visited and toured Southern Ontario with him that year. We met his son Luke when he came to Canada to visit his Dad and we toured with them to Niagara. It was a wonderful time! The next year we flew to Arvada and met his lovely wife Jan and their other son Dan. 
I have many fond memories of Matt and always will. As soon as he comes to mind my first visual is him and his welcoming smile wearing a Canadian Maple Leaf hard hat. We was a meticulous project manager right to the last detail, yet he treated all with great respect. You could not help but like him. He made everyone feel like an important piece of the “pie” or “puzzle”… his words for “project.”
We visited many places and had a lot of fun and laughs on vacation with Matt and Jan, from Toronto, Montreal and Quebec City to Colorado, the Grand Tetons, and Yellowstone. We loved their company and always looked forward to touring with them.
We visited and stayed with Jan and Matt in their personally designed home in Laramie as well as Arvada, and they have visited and stayed with us in Port Darlington. Pauline and I have always felt like part of the family and they will always be part of ours.
My deepest sympathy goes out to Jan, Luke, Dan and family. You are a wonderful family that Matt was always so proud of.
May you rest in peace, my friend. I will miss you much...


I carry a sad heart today and it will stay with me awhile.   Having known Matt as a coworker and friend for 25+ years, this lost hurts.   The honest truth and joy Matt brought to a project and our travels was unrivaled.  This will take awhile to process.  My respects and sympathies to Jan and his family.  We lost a treasure of a man.  

I’m gutted. Matt was one of our very good friends. I did many engineering projects with Matt around the country and he was a joy to be with at and away from work. I am beyond words at his passing and cannot adequately express my condolences to his family. 

We met Matt and Jan at high school - our kid’s high school that is.  Our daughter Catie was between Dan and Luke in age, and we all met through instrumental music and especially marching band. 
We hit it off immediately with Matt and Jan as band parents and roadies. Such fun times - in the stands laughing our heads off, Matt and other men wearing purple camouflage pants, working fundraisers, and just getting our families together. 
We will miss but also forever treasure Matt’s laugh, his goofy faces that made us laugh, his love for his boys, his family, and especially for Jan.  We will remember and cherish times in Arvada and Laramie.  
Jan you are loved and surrounded by everyone in this time of loss. Our hearts are broken for you, Dan, Luke, their wives, and all of the family around you. 

I am so heartbroken. Matt was such a dear cherished friend. My husband Pat befriended Matt at work, brought him home for supper, and the rest is history.   Matt invited us to his home in Colorado to meet his wife Jan. We became the best of friends and travel buddies. We also had the pleasure of visiting them in Wyoming at the beautiful home Matt designed. 
Matt also introduced us to a lot of “gizzies”…his term for gadgets.  Kitchen gadgets. 
We enjoyed a lot of wonderful meals and wines together. 
Matt was friendly, fun and a pleasure to be with. He was one of a kind. 
I will miss him with all my heart and soul…
I am so thankful I had the privilege of having such a special person in my life. 
My heart goes out to Jan, Daniel, Luke and all of Matt’s family and friends.

I got the pleasure of meeting Matt through my beautiful niece Clarissa at her wedding to his son Luke . We had lunch the day before the wedding and we chatted and joked about our love for the sauces at Chick-fil-a..  He was very kind and wanted  to make sure I was comfortable. I remember his joy at the ceremony and how he looked at Luke with such love!  I'll never forget the pride in his voice when he gave a speech at the reception!  He was a wonderful Father in Law to my niece and he will be greatly missed!  My deepest condolences go out to the entire Nord family. May you find comfort in all the wonderful memories you've shared. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to know Matt.
