Nell Gibson

Nell Gibson entered eternal life on March 20, 2012 at her home in Longmont. She was 86 years old.She was born December 10, 1925 in Baltimore, MD to William and Rose (Jubb) Rose. Nell married W. Bayne Gibson on February 19, 1944 in Amherst, MA. They lived in many places during their marriage, including several years in Denver, and in Longmont since 1985.She was a member of Wellshire Presbyterian Church (Denver) and currently at Central Presbyterian Church, Longmont. She was active in her faith and church, serving as an Elder and teaching Sunday school.Nell was a volunteer in many organizations including Denver Kids, through Denver Rotary Club; she and Bayne were founding partners of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Foundation. She served on the Northern Colorado Girl Scouts Board; the Board of Directors for the St. Vrain Manor; the Longmont Symphony Board and was past president of the Symphony Guild. She was honored by the St. Vrain Valley Schools as the 2004 Senior Volunteer of the year for her work at Columbine Elementary where she totaled 14 years of service. Nell was also a member of Zonta. Many in Longmont knew her as Grandma Nell.She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.Nell is survived by her husband Bayne, daughter Pam Gibson of Longmont, son Tom Gibson (Lisa) of Irvine, CA., grandchildren Tim West, Laurie West, Carrie Gibson and Erica Gibson, and great grandchildren Grace West, Jessica West and Nellie West.Memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday March 29, 2012 at Central Presbyterian Church 420 Kimbark St, Longmont. Cremation at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Presbyterian Church for the Nell Gibson Scholarship Fund.
