
Nicholas D. Burger died Saturday August 11, 2012 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 62 years old.He was born February 13, 1950 in Creston, IA to Clifford Dean and Patricia Ann (Downing) Burger.Nick enlisted in the United States Army in January of 1970, was then deployed to Vietnam and was honorably discharged in May 1972.On October 31, 1970 in Yakima, WA he married Kim Dockins.They moved to Colorado in 1972, making their home briefly in Golden, moving to Boulder in 1974 and to Longmont in 1984.Nick was a Master Plumber. For the past 17 years he has owned and operated Burger and Sons Plumbing, Inc. Prior to that he was a building inspector for six years with the City of Longmont, and for 2 years with the City of Thornton. He began his career as a Union plumber.He enjoyed fishing, sailing, playing softball, woodworking and the Denver Broncos. Nick is remembered first and foremost as a family man who cherished every minute he was able to spend with them.He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Bill Wilson.Nick is survived by his wife Kim of Longmont, sons Jeff Burger (Angie), and Brent Burger (Heather), grandsons Jason and David, granddaughters Stephanie and Alex all of Firestone; brothers Terry Burger (Shirley) and Jim Gibbons and sister Kathy Speer (Bobby) all of Iowa, along with nieces, nephews, friends and wonderful neighbors.Memorial services will be held 10:30am Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Cremation at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Memorial contributions to help with medical bills can be made to the Burger family.
