Jody was born in Denver, Colorado on June 25, 1941, to Leo and Madge McCarty. Jody spent her early years in Moscow, Idaho where her parents owned a cement plant. In 1956 Jody moved to Cody, Wyoming where her family co-owned the K Bar Z Guest Ranch. She attended Cody High School, was valedictorian and met the love of her life, Robert “Buddy” Cash. Jody attended the University of Arizona in Tucson where she was an active member in the Symphonic Choir and a President of the Alpha Phi Sorority. “Bear Down Arizona” fight song was one of her favorites. She earned her teaching degree and taught at Sunny Side High School in Tucson, for a few years.
Jody married Robert “Buddy” Cash on August 11, 1962 and moved to Longmont in 1969.
Jody’s love for education continued in Longmont at Longmont High School teaching Business Law, Typing and Shorthand. In 1973 the Career Development Center (CDC), a vocational-technical school opened and Jody was right there for a new challenge of teaching Business and Office Education. She wrote a grant for the first set of word processing equipment for the St. Vrain Valley School District and created the first Cooperative Education (Co-op) Program. Jody sought after every student having the opportunity to be successful even if they could not attend college.
Jody loved music, reading, and crossword puzzles. She also was intrigued by genealogy and created a large family tree.
Jody deeply loved her family. She treasured the time spent together during holidays doing jigsaw puzzles, playing gin rummy and beating everyone in scrabble. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren and rarely missed a sporting or school event.
Jody is survived by her husband, Bud; son Rob (Kim) Cash of Las Vegas, Nevada and daughter Nicole Cash of Firestone, Colorado, four grandchildren; RJ Cash III, Dustin Cash, Cade Pyle, and Callie Pyle.
Jody was preceded in death by her brothers Mick McCarty & CJ McCarty.
