

Ona Mae Majors, 81, of Berthoud, died October 31, 2015, at Life Care Center of Longmont. Mae was born May 16, 1934 in Pueblo, Colorado to Ralph and Vena (Beach) States. She attended school in Stone City, Colorado and then graduated from Rocky Ford High School. On January 16, 1955, she married Ivan E. Majors in Rocky Ford, Colorado. The family moved to the Longmont/Berthoud area in 1968 and lived there until 1998. They then moved to the Rocky Ford/La Junta CO area where Mae could be close to her mother in her final years. Ivan and Mae then returned to the Berthoud area in August 2013, where she resided with her daughter, Darla, and son-in-law, Jerry.
Mae embraced her life as a homemaker; her family was her priority. In her free time she enjoyed crossword and word search puzzles. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in La Junta and then in Longmont at the Collyer Street Church of Christ. Mae loved to worship her Lord in song. Her children remember her singing hymns and other songs as she went about her daily life.
Survivors include her husband, Ivan, of Berthoud, her daughters Jeanette Smith and husband David of Perryton, TX and Darla Geiger and husband Jerry of Berthoud. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Nathan Geiger and wife Alisa, Vicki Winger and husband Ryan, and Elizabeth Turner and husband Michael. She is survived by five great grandchildren, Jayden, Tianna and Blakely Geiger, Emmalyn Winger, and Ava Turner. She is also survived by her 3 sisters-in-law, Lelah Headley of Ft. Collins, Co, Lola McCleskey of Erie, Co., and Nadine Beach of Thornton, Co and beloved brother-in-law Elvis Baker of La Junta, CO and many other loved family members. Mae was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Robert “Bobby” Majors, and her sister, Doris Baker.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 pm on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the Howe Mortuary in Longmont. Funeral services will follow on Friday, November 6, 2015 at the Church of Christ, 1351 Collyer Street, Longmont. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Berthoud, CO.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Mountain States Children’s Home, 14780 N. 107th Street, Longmont, CO 80504.
