Bruce was born on January 15, 1965 as a twin, in Phoenix, Arizona. His twin brother, Rick Huffan was adopted by another family at their birth, and grew up in Arizona. Bruce was adopted by William Baker, Jr. and Louise Baker. Louise was a foster mother to the siblings, and although she wanted to take both brothers, the adopting agency said she could only adopt one of the twins. She said because Bruce would only eat for her, she chose Bruce. Louise worked diligently to keep his cerebral palsy at bay, by helping him to walk with various aids, physical therapy and constant hope and care. When she was physically unable to care for him anymore, with a heavy heart she had to admit him to a nursing home. He spent much of his young adult life there, before moving to a group home in the 1990’s. On October 1, of 1997, he moved into a host home with Robbie & Kim Finley and a housemate, Eugene Walden. Sadly, Louise had passed away early in the year 1997, and was not able to see Bruce live in a home setting. Bruce was loved by his host home family and did many activities over the 24 years they were together. He will be dearly missed by by all who were fortunate enough to know him. There will be a memorial service on Wednesday June 22, 2022, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel Starting at 1pm, there will be a reception at Robbie & Kim's Home following the service.
Bruce will be buried at Green Mountain Cemetery in Boulder, Colorado next to his father, William Baker, Jr. and his mother Louise Baker at a later date.
