On October 27th, 2025, Philip Douglas Whitely, aged 62, passed away in Longmont Colorado. Philip was born October 2nd, 1963, to Philip and Margaret Whitley. Philip grew up in Longmont Colorado, but moved to Denver Colorado in his 20’s. It was the city life that Philip loved. It was there, that he found his passion for cooking which led him to a career at The Brown Palace and later on at Shelby’s Bar and Grill. Cooking wasn’t Philip’s only passion, he loved photography, painting, woodworking, and later in life he became a collector of ship memorabilia.
Philip was preceded in death by his sister Rebecca June Whitely, his father, Philip Douglas Whitely and his mother, Margaret Anne Spangler.
Philip is survived by his brother Mac Whitely, his sister Laura Ronan, and his niece, Rebecca Weinzirl (Hunter and Shelby).
A Celebration of Philip’s life will be held at a later date.
