

Phil was born in Wagon Mound, New Mexico on May 26, 1923 to Antonio Martinez and Eloise Apodaca. The family would move to Colorado when he was a young boy by covered wagon. He and his brothers were responsible for walking in front of the wagon to remove rocks and stones. They would settle in Wellington and later move to Johnstown, eventually moving to Longmont.
He married Carlota Fresquez in 1955 in Longmont.
Phil farmed for a number of local farmers for a number of years. He would later join Longmont Foods as a security guard. He was a former member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Surviving are his daughter Diana (Ed) Minch of Mead; a granddaughter Carla Elliott of Mead; special friend Lucy “Mary” Romero of Longmont; 7 great grandchildren Christopher, Airelle, Tyler Roth, Audra Ramirez, Teresa, Joseph and Jared Elliott and great great grandchildren Jacob and Dahlia Roth.
Preceding him in death are his parents; a daughter Elizabeth Roth; three brothers Casey, Clyde, and Moses; and three sisters Sara Abeyta, Manuelita Olivas and Jenny Martinez.
A Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 15, 2010 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 16 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
