Raymond Scott Houston

R. Scott Houston died August 30, 2007 at Northern Colorado Medical Center, Greeley. He was 50.Scott was born on May 3, 1957 in Denver to Bennett R. Houston and Nita Lambert Houston. The family has lived in the northern Colorado area, largely on the family ranch near Platteville. He graduated from Valley High School, in Gilcrest, CO, in 1975.On November 23, 1983, Scott married Kim Banek, in Greeley, Colorado.Scott worked with his family at Aristrocrat Angus Ranch, managing it the past few years for the family. From 1993-2001 he also owned and operated Houston Fence Company. A spirited individual, Scott had many interests, which he pursued with enormous passion. A member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association, he was a professional bull rider for a number of years. An avid car enthusiast, he had restored a number of cars, largely from the muscle car era. One of his fondest memories was traveling across Mexico on a motorcycle with a close friend. Scott enjoyed many years in 4-H, both while growing up and assisting his children as they went through the program. He was a member of the Colorado Livestock Association, the American Angus Association, National Western Stock Show and was a Board Member of the Weld County Weed Control.Preceding him in death was a nephew Zach Miller.Surviving are his wife Kim of Platteville, daughter Brandy Geiger and her husband Mike of Wiggins, a son Tanner Houston of Platteville, a granddaughter Jordan Geiger, parents Ben and Nita Houston of Longmont, sisters Pamela Miller and Diane Hergert and her husband Richard of Platteville, and a brother Skylar Houston of Platteville and numerous nieces and nephews..A cremation has been entrusted to the Howe Mortuary and Crematory.Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 4, at the LifeBridge Christian Church, with Pastor Jeff Lowther and Rick Rusaw officiating.Contributions may be made to the R.
