April 16, 1932 – June 10, 2025
Bob Nehrig, passed away peacefully of natural causes on June 10, 2025, in Longmont, Colorado. He was 93.
Bob was born at home in Venango, Nebraska, on April 16, 1932. He attended a one-room schoolhouse just a mile from his childhood home and graduated from Perkins County High School in 1950. From 1952 to 1955, he served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class.
After his military service, Bob studied accounting in Denver, where he met his future wife, Mary. They married in 1958 and built a life grounded in faith, hard work, and family. In 1969, Bob made a major life change—leaving the business world to move to a farm in Weld County, Colorado, where he and Mary raised their children. He farmed until his retirement in 1998.
Bob was a man of service and quiet generosity. He delivered Meals on Wheels for 18 years, raised gardens every season, and was a dedicated member of the American Legion in Firestone. His faith guided much of his life, and he remained active in the Lutheran Church throughout the years.
He loved to travel—both across the United States and abroad—but his greatest joy came from time spent with family. Bob is survived by his wife Mary, his children Gary and Becky (Bradley) Bush, and six granddaughters, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Julia Nehrig; his brother, Wilfred Nehrig; and his sister, Judy Nicklesburg.
A memorial service will be held at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel on Monday, June 23 at 11am. He will be buried in Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado. Donations may be made to Orphan Grain Train or Lutheran Hour Ministries.
Bob will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
