Robert G. Pecina

Robert Godfrey Pecina passed away February 2, 2018 at his home in Longmont, CO. He was 86 years old. Robert was born on July 15, 1931 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to Godfrey and Mildred (Zinck) Pecina. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Robert then went on to Rensselar Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY and the Stevens Institute of Technology in Newark, NJ on a fellowship where he received his doctorate in Electrical Engineering.On April 7, 1956 he married Dorothy Jurnecka at St, Johns Church in Elizabeth, NJ. He worked at Bell Labs as an Electrical Engineer until his retirement in 1996. Robert moved to Longmont, CO in 1999 from Louisville, CO. He was a member at Calvary Church in Longmont; and also belonged to the American Philatelic Society, the Train Collectors Association and the National Geological Society.Robert enjoyed genealogy, trains, the history of WWII, gardening, roller coasters, hiking, stamps (but not by choice) and traveling especially to the beach.He was preceded in death by his uncle Henry Pecina.Robert is survived by his wife Dorothy; his daughters Cherie Mestas and Susie Allen; his grandchildren Matt Koleber and Chris Koleber; his cousin Susan Leszczek; and Pettie his beloved dog.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday February 16, 2018 at Calvary Church in Longmont.
