Robert James Traxinger

Bob Traxinger was united with our Lord and Savior on April 27, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on December 8, 1963 in Elmhurst, Illinois, to Jim and Cathy Traxinger where he spent most of his childhood. He then moved to Longmont, Colorado with his family in 1978. Bob attended St. John's Catholic School for 1 year where he was active in sports and music. After St. John's, Bob attended Niwot High School where he excelled in athletics in both football and basketball. He graduated from high school in 1982 and went on to play basketball for Western State College. Bob began his career installing carpet with Starr Flooring in Boulder shortly after high school. In 1991, he started his own flooring business, Bob's Carpet Service.Bob met the love of his life, Lorelee Jacobson in 1988. They were united in marriage in 1991 at Old Mill Park in Longmont where they have made their home for the past 20 years. Bob and Lorelee have 3 children, Christopher, Lindsay and Kelsey. Bob was very involved in his children's lives and it meant the world to him to attend all of their activities. Bob took an active role in coaching both his daughters in basketball and his son in football. Chris and Lindsay graduated from Skyline High School and Kelsey is currently a junior at Niwot High School, following in her Dad's footsteps.Bob was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed playing golf, hunting, and fishing with his family and friends. His favorite places included fishing in Utah and Montana and annual hunting trips with his family to South Dakota. Bob was a member of the Men's Club at Ute Creek Golf Course where he played his way to a 10 handicap. He was very involved in the Longmont community making many friends along the way and impacting so many lives with his positive attitude, lust for life and contagious smile. Bob's greatest joy in life was being a husband and father. He loved spending time with his wife and 3 children where just being together meant everything to him.Bob is survived by his wife Lorelee, son Christopher, daughters Lindsay and Kelsey, parents Jim and Cathy Traxinger, sister Marie and husband Dale Miller (Benjamin and Cody), sister Janet and husband Dave Rodriguez (Michael, Bobby, Danny, and Maripat), brother Tim and wife Deb (John, Tiffany and Madison), brother Dave and wife Bunny (Jennifer), brother JT and wife Kim (Shannon and Justin), sister Linda Adams (Gunnar, Kaylee and Aubree) and brother Paul and wife Angie (Josh and Ryan).A celebration of Bob's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 30, at LifeBridge Christian Church, 10345 Ute Highway in Longmont with Senior Minister Rick Rusaw officiating. Cremation is under the care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to LifeBridge Christian Church.
