

Our family is saddened to announce the passing of Stephen Thide, 81, and Frances Felton Thide, 84. Stephen passed away suddenly on July 31, 2021. His wife, Frances, passed away a short time later on September 8, 2021 following a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Stephen G Thide was born in Huntington, NY to Charles and Odyssia Lynn Thide on July 23,1940. He grew up in Northport, NY with his 3 brothers- Charles, Raymond, and Andrew. It was at this young
age that he developed his love of fishing and the outdoors. After graduating from Northport High School in 1959 he joined the United States Air Force. His service took him abroad, introducing him to the joy of travel and more importantly it introduced him to the love of his life.
Frances Rae (Felton) Thide was born March 13, 1937 in Ainsworth, NE to Jay E and Hazel Bell Felton . She had 2 younger brothers- Mike and Larry. Her family moved to Longmont when she was still young. Attending Longmont schools, she was very studious and dreamed of traveling the world one day. She graduated from Longmont High School in 1955. She was the class Vice President and a member of
the Spanish club. Her first travel destination was Mexico followed the next year by a cruise to Europe on the Queen Mary and returning home on the Queen Elizabeth. Frances was a Grey Lady for the Red Cross and also served in the USO, where she met her handsome husband.
They married in an intimate service on February 11, 1967 followed by more travels, honeymooning in Hawaii. They made their home in Denver. Steve began a lifelong career as a specialized metrologist for AT&T/ Lucent. Francis held a longstanding position with Public Service/Xcel Energy. In 1969, they moved home to Longmont where they happily lived for the rest of their 54 years. They shared a love of the mountains, birdwatching, and gardening. They raised specialty rose hybrids.
After their retirement, they enjoyed involvement in church, community service, and volunteering for the Allenspark Hilltop Guild. Both were active members in the Audubon Society, local historical endeavors,
and their continued travels. They were especially fond of attending the Pasadena Rose Parade, making it a tradition most years. Stephen was a singer, sharing his talents with the Barbershop clubs and many years with the Central Presbyterian church choir. Frances was a dedicated member of the DAR. Stephen was a lifelong Mason and Frances was a member of the Eastern Star.
Stephen is survived by his brother Raymond Thide (Barbara). Frances is survived by her brother Larry Felton and by her sister in law Gail Felton (Mike). In addition, they will both be missed and held in the hearts and memories by their many nieces and nephews.
A private family memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. The service will be livestreamed, the link can be found below under services.
