Steven John Penner

Steven J. Penner, 51, of Broomfield, CO passed away suddenly on October 26, 2016 in Boulder, CO.Steve, son of Fred and Edith Penner, was born on July 27, 1965 in Newport Beach, CA. A 1983 graduate of South Sioux City High School in South Sioux City NE, he did his undergraduate work at Iowa State University in Ames, IA (1987). He received his Master's & Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. Steve married Jamie Martucci in 1996 in Pueblo, Colorado. He spent time working as a research scientist for several years before changing his focus to Law. Upon completing his J.D. from the University of Colorado, he went on to work as a Patent Attorney eventually becoming a partner at Lathrop & Gage Law Firm in Boulder, CO. His children, Caleb James and Eloisa N lle (Ellie) were the light of his life. He loved his family and enjoyed skiing, basketball and any sport his children were involved in. He was an active cheerleader on the sidelines for them. Steve was a wonderful man, well liked and respected by all who knew him. He could often be found in light hearted debates on any topic and enjoyed a good ribbing. He struggled to find peace while here on earth. We are thankful he is at peace now in heaven.He is survived by his wife Jamie; son, Caleb; daughter, Ellie; parents Fred and Edith Penner; brother, Philip Penner (Kathy); sister, Joy Schwarting (Steve); nieces Annie and Maureen Penner; nephews John Penner, Samuel and Jacob Schwarting; in-laws Jim, Sr. and Eloise Martucci; brother-in-law Jim Martucci and nephew River Martucci. He will be deeply missed by many relatives, friends, co-workers and clients.Steve will be laid to rest at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Erie, CO. A funeral service will take place November 7th, with 9am visitation and a 10am service at Calvary Bible Church in Erie, CO. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Steve Penner's life.
