

Thomas Dan Villani, Sr., of Frederick, died February 15, 2007 at his home. He was 84.Tom was born on September 12, 1922 in Cansano, Italy to Rocco Villani and Antonia Carusso. The family immigrated to Frederick when he was just 4 years old. He graduated from Frederick High School. He was married to Dora Rossetti on September 29, 1946 in Frederick.Mr. Villani went to the local coal mines after finishing school. He finished at the Sterling Mine when most of the local mines closed. He then joined Denver-Gardner, manufacturing industrial equipment for 18 years. For his last few years of employment, he joined the St. Vrain Valley School District, until his retirement. Tom was an active member of the community of Frederick. He was on the town council for a number of terms. In addition to being a volunteer firefighter for Frederick, he served two terms on the board for the department. He was proud to be a member of the Miner?s Hall of Fame of Frederick. An avid Bocce Ball player, he competed on a national level, having won the team championship one year in Las Vegas.He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Ludwig and Sam Villani, and a sister Jean Torvund.Surviving are his wife of Frederick, two daughters Florence DuFour and her husband Larry of Frederick and Linda Fiest and her husband Tony of Cherry Hills Village, two sons Thomas D. Villani, Jr. and his wife Sally of Longmont and David Villani of Westminster; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.Visitation hours will be from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 17, 2007 at the Howe Mortuary.Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, February 18, 2007.
