
Velda Lu Grunwald Wilson of Longmont died May 3, 2019 at Life Care Center of Longmont. She was 91 years old. There was cremation.Velda Lu was born to Otto and Helene Grunwald in Denver, Colorado, on June 26, 1927. She graduated from East High School, and attended the University of Denver, and Bradley University, from which she graduated cum laude in 1950. She married Carl T. Wilson, Jr., of La Grange, IL. They divorced in 1967.Lu later attended Iliff School of Theology in Denver, earning an M.A., M. Div., and was ordained in the Rocky Mountain Conference of the United Methodist Church in 1983. She served churches in Utah, Sterling, and Palisade, CO. She was a member of Gamma Phi Beta, Wakapa, and P.E.O., and had a vital interest in Habitat for Humanity. She was preceded in death by her parents; half-brother, Robert; half-sister, Pat; brother, Jack L.K., and son, Miles. She is survived by her grandson, Tanner; great-grandsons, Tyler and Trent of Chicago; four nieces; one nephew; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She is especially missed by her close friend, Carol Janda of Longmont. Contributions may be made to St. Vrain Valley Habitat for Humanity, c/o Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
