Vicki Starkey

Vicki Starkey, 73, of Longmont passed away November 3, 2015 at Longmont United Hospital.She was born October 3, 1942 in Longmont to Victor Slavec, Jr. and Helen Marlow Slavec. She moved with her family to Lafayette where she grew up and attended high school.On August 15, 1961 she married David Starkey in Raton, New Mexico. They lived in Lafayette until moving to Longmont in 1971.Vicki was an executive secretary at StorageTek from 1982 until her retirement in 2006.She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 1771 Veterans of Foreign Wars in Lafayette.Vicki loved playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was devoted to her daughters as well as to her father. Weekly, she had lunch with members of her beloved extended family. She was a passionate reader, gardener, and Broncos fan. She enjoyed exploring the nation, but also loved watching the birds in her own backyard. She wrote p try, adored music, and discovered the joy of meditative coloring books. She drove fast cars, rode tall roller coasters and laughed with abandon. She loved her life and those who shared it with her.She was preceded in death by many of the wonderful relatives who helped raise her as well as by her mother, Mary Slavec; her brother Mike; her husband Dave; and her mother-in-law Margaret Starkey.Vicki is survived by four daughters: Karen Singer (Mike Blender) of Longmont; Cindy Adams (Brad) of Longmont; Diane Starkey of Lafayette; and Linda Starkey of Lafayette; by her father Victor Slavec, Jr. of Lafayette; her seven grandchildren: David Singer (Elise), Michael Singer (Erica), and Sarah, Brandon, Kelsey, Christian and Olivia Adams; and by two great grandchildren, Elijah Singer and Hailey Singer.Memorial services will be at 10:30am Monday, November 9, 2015 at the Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
