Vincent Evans Shryack, 98, of Longmont, CO passed away on March 30, 2022. Born in Genoa, CO, on September 28, 1923, he was the second son of Florence and Jesse Shryack. Vince spent his childhood in Fort Collins, CO, graduating from Fort Collins High School in 1941. Later that year, he enrolled in Colorado A&M College, studying Mechanical Engineering. At age 19, after two years of college, Vince enlisted in the Army to serve in World War II. After basic training, he arrived on Omaha Beach three months after the invasion of Europe by the United States and its Allies. Vince served in two campaigns, the Ardennes Forest (Battle of the Bulge) and the Rhineland. He was then sent to the Pacific Theater for the Philippine liberation. After the atom bombs were dropped in Japan, Vince went to Japan for three months as part of the Army of Occupation. From there Vince was sent home to Fort Logan, where he was honorably discharged from the Army in 1946. He returned to Colorado A&M, joined the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity (serving a term as president), and met his future wife, Marlene Hull. He graduated in 1948 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Vince and Marlene were married July 15, 1949, in Fort Collins, CO. Vince had a wonderful career in petroleum engineering. His career began with Phillips Petroleum in Ardmore, OK, with moves to Bartlesville, OK and Houston, TX before returning to Denver, CO, where he continued his petroleum engineering career. Moving with his family to Longmont in 1974, in addition to his engineering work, he was actively involved in the Longmont Rotary Club and the community and served on a variety of boards. Vince enjoyed playing golf whenever he could, traveling with family and friends, playing bridge with life-long friends, and solving the world’s problems with his coffee klatch buddies of many years. Vince loved his family and delighted in spending time with them.
Vince is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Marlene, and his brother Jess.
