Walter S. Swanson

Walter S. Swanson passed away January 1, 2015 at Applewood Living Center. He was 90 years old.Walter was born on April 8, 1924 in Plum City, WI to Berger and Hildur (Alsterlund) Swanson.He graduated from Trinity Bible College. On August 24, 1945 he married Merlyn Jacobsen in Malmo, MN. He moved to Longmont, CO in 2006 from Kearney, NE.Walter was a pastor at a nursing home in Kearney, NE, and pastor of an Evangelical Free Church in Lexington, NE and Sterling, CO. He was also a substitute teacher in the Denver Public School system.Walter was a member of the Open Bible Church in Kearney, NE and active in the Full Gospel Business Men's Association.He loved woodworking and was always making and building things for family and friends. His passion was bible study and helping people.Walter was preceded in death by his wife Merlyn in 2006.He is survived by his son Arden (Sandy) Swanson; his daughter Laurie (Eric Taylor) Swanson; his grandchildren Doug and Brad Swanson, Tracie Lechman, Sherry Lechman, and Michael Guzman; and his great-grandchildren Isaiah, Naylen, Avery and Ella, and Hayley and Sophia.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday January 6, 2015 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont, CO.
