Betty accepted Christ as her savior at a very early age. A devout Christian, she was an active member of her church community. She helped to set the foundation of what is today known as Midwest Church of Christ. The many relationships she developed through the church, she considered a second family.
She united in holy matrimony with William Standard Sr. in 1943. Their union was blessed with eight children.
Her gifts made room for her. Her entrepreneurial ability reflected that of a highly skilled woman of her time, only because she was governed and taught by God. A born beautician, men and women alike came to be beautified and spend hours of fellowship. Her restaurant was a haven for boys and girls. Whether they had money or not they could find a meal with Miss Betty. She fed as many that would come. She touched many lives through her kind and giving ways. She was a natural born caregiver and loved to be surrounded by her family and friends.
Betty entered into eternal rest on June 22, 2018. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Walter Jr. and James Miles and her son William “Bill” Standard Jr. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, sons Earl “Danny” (Bertha), Walter Sr., James Sr. (Betty), Perry, Dwaine, Wiley, daughter, Shirley (James), daughter-in-law Vicki and a host grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
