Dewey (Buck) David Buckingham, Jr., born in Hamilton, Ohio passed away gently in his sleep on January 1, 2018. Buck served in the US Army from 1945 – 1968 (WWII and Korea). He retired after 23 years of service with a rank of Sergeant First Class, was awarded with a Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and the Combat Infantry Badge. He was a Lifetime Member of VFW Post 1181 and a Kentucky Colonel. After retiring from the Army, Buck began his next career as a chemical operator at Rohm & Hass KY, retiring after 20 years of service. Buck was preceded in death by his mother, Catherine Mueller Wendell, father, Dewey D. Buckingham, Sr., his wife, Joan Wilson Buckingham, brother, Donald Wendell, and a great-grandson, Myles Benham Buckingham. He is survived by his three sons, Doug (Andree), Dennis (Carol), and Drew (Sharon); Six grandchildren, David (Jennifer), Tim (Amy), Brad (Sarah), Lindsey Marsee (Tim), Jacob, and Taylor Gribbons (Nick); and eight great- grandchildren. Buck visitation will be at the Advantage Funeral Home – Hardy Chapel on Saturday from 11 – 1pm, with a private memorial service to follow, with burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
