

James “Jim” Alford Parker III was born October 29, 1952 to James and Naomi Parker in Oceanside, California. Shortly after his birth, his father finished his service with the Marine's and relocated his family to Louisville, KY.
Jim lived a full life in Louisville. He attended Pleasure Ridge Park High School. After graduation, he met and married the love of his life, Jeanette, and moved to West Point, KY where they lived for 36 years. They started their family, first with Jo, with Wendy following a few years later, and 10 years after that, they completed their girls with the birth of Jaye. Jim was a great father, coaching and refereeing for all of his daughters as they grew up. Playing basketball pickup games with his girls was his favorite past time.
Jim was an EMT and volunteer firefighter while in West Point. He spent 25 years in the Civil Service at Fort Knox, KY. After retirement, he ran a successful embroidery company that he sold in 2002. Since selling his business and officially retiring, he has done odd jobs to keep busy, but has spend most of his time being the best “papaw” to his 6 grandchildren; Mallory, Chase, Raylin, Caleb, Grantlee, and Maddox. They all adored their papaw and have great memories of playing restaurant or ball in the backyard.
Jim passed away surrounded by his family at Audubon Hospital on December 23, 2024 at 72 years old He was preceded in death by his mother, Naomi, and his middle daughter, Wendy Dawn. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jeanette, father James Parker JR, daughter Jo (Mike) Sabol, Jaye (Kevin) Moore, sister Anne Marie (Bob) Bosley, and all of his precious grandchildren. His memory, annual fishing trips, and a sense of humor that was second to none will be cherished by all of his family.
Jim's visitation will be Sunday, December 29, 2024 from 3-8 PM and Monday from 10 AM until his service time at Advantage funeral Home Hardy Chapel 10907 Dixie Hwy. His funeral will be Monday January 30, at 12 noon. Cremation will follow.
