He was a retired employee of Ford , a member of St. Clement Catholic Church, and former president of Valley Olympics. He enjoyed golf and was an avid U of K fan.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Dorothy Swetman Mills; a son, Joseph A. Mills, Jr.; a daughter, Debbie Shoemaker and her husband Merl; a granddaughter, Brooke Marie Shoemaker; brothers, James “Jess”, Gene, and William K. Mills; and sisters, Mary F. Harbison, JoAnn Edwards, Linda Stith, and Theresa Elliott.
His funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am Monday at St. Polycarp Catholic Church, 7718 Columbine Dr., followed by entombment at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm Sunday at Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway.
