Joshua Michael Anders was born on August 6, 1979, in Sacramento, CA, to his adoring parents, Bill and Karen Anders. Growing up, he was the oldest of three children, consistently picking on and taking care of Stephanie and Matthew.
Josh’s life was marked by service, often giving his time, money, and efforts to others without any desire for praise or recognition. He loved to be able to bless others and took every opportunity he could to help others with whatever they needed.
Josh and his precious wife, Valerie, were high school sweethearts who have been together for over 26 years. Josh loved Valerie and cared for her with all of his heart. After years of prayerfully struggling to have children, God blessed their union with Braiden and Mason. Josh was extremely proud of his two boys. He was a family man who consistently demonstrated his love for Valerie and the boys by giving them gifts and taking them on trips together. He loved to make memories with and for his family.
But the most important truth about Josh’s life is that he was a follower of Jesus Christ. He was raised in church and spent his life learning, growing, and serving others. Every church in which he was a member, it was always important to him to befriend and serve the senior pastor of the church. He always found ways to use his gifts to assist the congregation.
Josh will be greatly missed by so many. He went home to be with the Lord on October 16, 2023, here in Louisville, KY. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his faithful wife of 22 years, Valerie, and his two precious boys, Braiden and Mason, his parents, Bill and Karen Anders, his siblings, Stephanie (David) Brown, and Matthew (Sheila) Anders, his in-laws, Steve and Pam Tennis, his sister-in-law, Vanessa (Sean) Carberry, along with his nieces and nephews, Max, Emmett, Olivia, Levi, Reid, Luke, Norah, Ava, Cole, as well as many beloved aunts and uncles and scores of friends.
Josh’s memorial service will be on Saturday, October 21, at the First Baptist Church of Fairdale at 413 Fairdale Road, Fairdale, KY 40118 at 4:00 p.m. The doors will open at 3:30 p.m. The service will be livestreamed at FBC Fairdale Media on YouTube.
