Vera Mae Seawright

December 19, 1933 – June 7, 2025

Vera Mae Seawright, 91, of Jeffersonville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 7, 2025.

Born on December 19, 1933, to Frank and Marie Decker, in Echols, KY, Vera lived a full and vibrant life. She was known for her love of reading, playing bingo, and dining out with friends and family. In earlier years, she enjoyed square dancing and bowling, hobbies that brought her great joy. In recent years, her greatest delight came from her role as “GiGi” to her beloved great-grandson.

A devoted and hardworking woman, Vera retired at the age of 65 from Cissell Mfg., where she forged many lasting friendships over the years. She will be remembered for her dedication, warmth, and sense of humor.

Vera was preceded in death by her husband, William “Noonie” Seawright; her son, William “Bill” Seawright; her brothers, Frank and Larry Decker; and her sister-in-law, Burnis Decker.

She is survived by her grandson, William “Buck” Seawright (Katherine); her cherished great-grandson, William “Liam” Seawright; and her daughter-in-law, Bridget Seawright.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 28, at noon, at Chapel Hill United Church of Christ, 2307 Embassy Lane, Shively, Kentucky, 40216. A reception with food and a celebration of Vera’s life will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Chapel Hill United Church of Christ.

Vera’s legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
