

Services for Bettie Joyce (Rawls) Ferguson, 81, of Huntington, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2013 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Charles Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mrs. Ferguson was born May 11, 1931 in Houston County, Texas, the daughter of the late Hattie (Murray) and Edell Rawls. She passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Huntington Healthcare & Rehabilitation.
Mrs. Ferguson had resided in Lufkin and Huntington since 1954. She was a member of Denman Avenue Baptist Church and a member of the Hope Sunday School Class. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She took great pleasure in sewing an crocheting. She made many things with her crochet work, which she gave to family members and to her many friends.
Survivors include her husband, Bennie Ferguson of Huntington; daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Larry Smith of Nacogdoches, Brenda and Louis Hartmann of Bryan, Linda and Eddie Ditsworth of Kansas, and Debbie and Sam Sumpter of Graham; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Virginia Dell Rawls of Huntington; and a number of other family members and a host of friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ferguson was preceded in death by her daughter, Bennie Jean Lightner; granddaughter, Felicity Lightner; and brothers, Floyd Rawls and Robbie Rawls.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
