Curtis Wayne Yarbrough Sr.

Funeral services for Curtis Wayne Yarbrough Sr. will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2022 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Charles Burton officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Newman Cemetery in Lufkin, Texas.

Curtis Wayne Yarbrough Sr., 83, of New Caney, Texas, affectionately known by family as “Daddy or PaPaw” passed away peacefully on Monday, July 18, 2022 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 8, 1938 in Wells, Texas, Cherokee County to the late Nooland Pinkney and Allie Mae Moore Yarbrough.

Daddy went to his Heavenly Home, to be reunited with his beloved wife, Margie Louise Owens Yarbrough, who he persistently pursued at the young age of 13. Curtis and Margie had nine children and their home was always filled with family, friends and lots of love and laughter.

Although PaPaw could be stubborn, he was extremely loving and caring. He was a rambling man who was very independent and had a true love for gambling and running the roads.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 47 years, Margie Yarbrough; their son Curtis Wayne Yarbrough Jr.; son-in-law, Scottie Ray Kennedy, and daughter, Deborah Kay McDonald; grandson, Curtis Wayne “Trey” Yarbrough and his four eldest brothers.

He leaves behind to cherish his loving memory, son-in-law, Scooter McDonald, Cheryl Wilson and husband William, Janice Chamblee and husband Vern, Brenda Terrell and husband Wayne, Darla Wilson, Kimberly Kennedy, Allen Yarbrough, Pamela Lowe and husband Terry; sister Audrey Chapman and brother Carl Yarbrough; with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other loving relatives and family.

Curtis will be deeply missed and as he always said, “I love you more than all the grains of sand on earth and all the stars in Heaven.”

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers for the service will be Allen Yarbrough, Sean McDonald, William “Lil Man” Wilson, Chris Chamblee, Stephen Chamblee, Timothy Chamblee, Cody Kennedy, Jared Kennedy, Dylan Kennedy, Ethan Lowe, Garett Lowe, Justin Terrell, Tyler Yarbrough, and Austin Yarbrough

Services have been placed in the trust of Gipson Funeral Home.
